Triethylenediamine (CAS 280-57-9) exists in white or pale yellow crystals. It has the smell of ammonia. It is an organic synthetic intermediate and synthetic light stable material. It is widely used in polyurethane foam, elastomer, plastic products and molding process. It is still a starting agent for polymers, which can be used as catalysts for ethylene polymerization and epoxyethane polymerization. Its derivatives can be used as corrosion inhibitors, emulsifiers, etc.
Physical and chemical properties
Appearance: White or light yellow crystals, easily deliquescent, and prone to sublimation at room temperature.
Melting point: 159.8 ℃
Boiling point: 174 ℃
Solubility: soluble in water, acetone, benzene, and ethanol, soluble in straight chain hydrocarbons such as pentane, hexane, and heptane; It can absorb CO2 from the air and turn yellow, showing weak alkalinity.
