Application
Used as a condensation accelerator in organic chemical reactions. It is the raw material for the synthesis of vitamin A. Also used as dehydrating agent, dehalogenating agent, alkylating agent, ammoniating agent. It dissociates NHf ion in liquid ammonia as an initiator for anionic polymerization to produce polyvinyl chloride. It is also used in the manufacture of azide compounds, cyanide, indigo and hydrazine.
